In this third week we have to make a draft. My draft try to choose a motivating topic for my pupils and something challenging to them.
Age-range: 6 - 8.
Main subjects: The main subject is science but we will introduce some language tips and some basic maths.
Methodology: Project Based Learning and Collaborative Learning.
Time: One quarter year.
Abstract
The project is call "Our pets". The aim of this project is that our pupils be responsibles and pay attention to the animals we live with. Consequently they need to learn something about animals. So they are going to use language and some maths to do it.
Every child has a pet o maybe a friend who owns one.
In this project every team has to teach in a short video how to take care with different kinds of pets: dogs, cats, birds, fish, turtles, mice...
The team has to make an script and record how you should fed, clean up, take care your pet.
Goals
The main goal is knowing how in other countries children take care their pets and if there are big differences.
Use native language and English in order to improve our knowledge.
Work process
To start with every child have to gather information about the needs of animals and share with the team. Secondly every team have to choose a different kind of pet and taking care of them. In the process they have to take photos and record some activities that they do with the animal.
Tools
We are to use Youtube, spreaker, google presentations (or a similar tool), mindmodo (or similar) and, of course, the blog class we have.
Evaluation
We have to make a rubric to evaluate the process at first. Another different rubric to evaluate the final product and finally a third to evaluate the collaborative learning.
I'm looking forward to hearing my colleagues opinions.
great idea, children are familiar with pets. You can also use google forms, padlet or thinkling for collaboration. You can present it to the parents organising a meeting or at the blog of your school. Each country can adopt a pet and exchange ideas.
ResponderEliminarI think it's a very interesting and motivating for students from 6 to 8 years project.
